Yesterday Eric and I made plans to go out for an early dinner. Karen agreed to watch Sam so we could go by ourselves. (What did I ever do without Karen??)
As I got Sam ready to go, I talked to him about our plans.
Mom: Sam, you are going to play at Aiden's house.
Sam: Oooooh!! Ain!
Mom: Mama isn't going to stay with you. Mama is going to leave.
Sam: Ain?
Mom: Yes, you will get to play with Aiden. But Mama will go bye-bye.
Sam: Oh. Ain?
Mom: Yes, Sam! Aiden will be there, but Mama won't!
Sam (happily): Ain!
True to form, Sam could hardly be bothered to say goodbye to me when I dropped him off. He was happy when I came to pick him up, but I know he would have been just as happy staying there for good.
When it comes to Sam's time with his friend, I just can't compete.
